On Thursday September 20st Light up Uganda organised an event in support of Hope for the orphans-uganda at Buwala Primary School in Kamuli. After receiving lots of donations in clothes, school materials and toys from our generous supporters over the last year, we decided to give out all of the received goods to ‘Hope for the Orphans’. Besides the received donations, we have bought clothes in the local second-hand market and school materials in local shops.
Hope for the Orphans is a young organisation that was started by a group of dedicated Ugandans and currently supports 37 children and foster families. Their main focus is to provide education & basic needs, such as schoolmaterials, medication and clothing. The children who are selected to receive support, have lost their parents and/or fully depend on medical care. The children live with their (foster) families around both Kamuli and Jinja and with the help of Hope for the Orphans they all get access to education.
We thank Namukose Edith, head teacher of Buwala Primary School (seen in the very last picture!), and all students and attendees for the warm welcome at your wonderful school! We wish you all the best!
We’d love to share the following pictures with you all from this amazing day!
All pictures were taken and posted with permission from the students/guardians, the school and Hope for the Orphans.
