Today we visited the location of the ‘Ntunga’ Project (I’m Sewing) in Kampala. We discussed how Light up Uganda can support on the short term (getting new machines & making the space more functional for the women), and how we can help on the long term. It was a very inspiring day and we’d love to thank Streetlights Ugandafor what they have achieved so far; please keep on going!
The Ntunga Project teaches women how to sew, so that they will be able to use their skill to make a living and take care of their families. The training period for each group is 6 months, whereafter women are encouraged to teach others and pass on the knowlegde. When women graduate, they will still be able to use the training centre and its machines. Streetlights Uganda hopes to educate, inspire and motivate many women, and to have a great impact on the surrounding communities.
